The Bungalows are the premiere offering of Retreat by Homestead Modern. 14 suites nestled in the northwest corner of the historic 152 acre Joshua Tree Retreat Center campus and abutting the Mojave Desert Land Trust. The Bungalows are housed in authentic mid-century post-and-beam-style buildings, listed in the National Register of Historic Places, featuring newly renovated interiors that were architecturally restored in 2022. They are surrounded by sky and serenity and endless views of Joshua Trees, but only a few minutes away from Joshua Tree Village, the national park entrance and Pioneertown.

A Historic Retreat

Guests of The Bungalows enjoy the same level of hospitality as found at all Homestead Modern’s properties in the High Desert. With a simple design and integration of technology, we offer our guests a low touch experience, with high guest service. We utilize a smart lock for each Bungalow allowing a self check-in process and there is no front desk, though our local support team is available from 9am-9pm daily.

Unwind

The Bungalows offer generous communal outdoor space, propane BBQ grills, a fire-pit overlooking one of the many vortices on campus as well as hiking trails and access to the Retreat Center pool, hot tub and wellness activities. Each room, while connected in one of three buildings, has its own entrance, kitchen, bathroom, patio and parking space.

The Bungalows are 18 plus only, dog friendly and do not have TVs.

14 serene rooms, all with private patios and endless views of the stunning surrounding landscape. The Bungalows have all of the conveniences of modern technology: high-speed Internet, whisper-quiet heating and air conditioning, on-demand hot water heaters; and luxurious comfort. Tuft & Needle “Mint” mattresses are dressed with Parachute linens and bath areas proudly offer Malin & Goetz body products and House of Hiatus bathrobes.

Each bungalow contains a full kitchen [kitchenettes in double rooms] with bakeware, cookware, utensils, silverware & local ceramics with both indoor and outdoor dining spaces. All guests arrive to a few complimentary snack and beverage options, salt, pepper, cooking oil, and a French Press w/ locally roasted coffee.
